Top Performers: South Florida/PBC
Dante Moses, Inlet Grove
The bouncy and electrifying guard is now tipping the high-major scales with his ascending Division-I stock. With gaudy statistics, a reliable and feathery mid-range game, and hyper-athletic finishes, Moses is heating up at the opportune time. He scored 30 points, grabbed 10 boards, and doled five assists during a recent 61-45 win against Santaluces.
During Inlet Grove’s end to end 70-46 pummeling of Village Academy, Moses had 16 points and 12 boards. Moses’ full throttle mentality and defensive tenacity, even during a slaying of this type, is promising. His productivity never wanes.
Jaiden Lee, Palm Glades Prep
Buoyed by innate scoring ability at all three levels, the class of 2018 guard displays effective body control on hard slashes to the rim. A rugged athlete who engineers the offense and also call his own number during vital moments, Lee has considerable elevation on his mid-range game.
Lee scored 22 points, grabbed 11 boards, and doled out five assists in spearheading Palm Glades to a 70-54 win over Everglades Prep last week.
If there is one word commonly associated with Lee’s game, it’s so jarringly obvious it nearly falls off the page: Smooth. Every time the 6-foot-3 barrels to the rim without hesitation or pulls up for a shot, it seems nearly effortless. This aspect, coupled with his ability to score off less, dribbles adds to his appeal as a volume scorer.
Nathaniel Stewart, Palm Glades Prep
Stewart cracked the program record book while simultaneously establishing his own personal high water mark against Everglades. He turned in his first ever triple double, blitzing Everglades to the tune of 12 points, 10 boards, and 10 assists.
Issad Solano, SLAM MIAMI
Solano is a consistent 11PPG scorer and ideal role player on a SLAM MIAMI team that has shown incremental improvement on a day to day basis. The 6-foot-3 guard has been a stable knockdown presence, boasting a deep range jumper and beyond the arc game.
One positive recurring trend has been Solano’s surges to the rim and effective slices through traffic. Still improving as a defender.
Solano has recently flashed a stepback jumper and a knack for luring in defenders on the drive and whizzing a pass to a big underneath.
Sam Griffin, Westminster Academy
With the uber clutch 6-foot-4 Zach Scott (headed to FGCU), sharpshooting Chase Johnston, and 6-foot-6 high major prospect Dudley Blackwell forming a radiant triumvirate, people tend to forget about Sam Griffin.
Griffin has been a reliable supplementary scorer, as evidenced by a 22-point performance during a 105-94 resume win over Miami Christian. The quartet of Scott (29 points), Johnston (29 ), Griffin (22), and Blackwell (20) amassed 100 points. Griffin has the skill set to play both guard spots and is evolving into a catch-and-stick threat. The 6-foot-2, 165-pound guard has high level defensive instincts and has the potential to be a lockdown defensive source.
On most other teams throughout the state and the country, Griffin would be the primary scorer. Northern Arizona has an offer on the table. Northern Arizona has an offer on the table for the Fort Lauderdale native.
