Top Performers: South Florida
Cade Long, Boca Raton
The senior, who reached the 1,000-point milestone just two weeks ago, scored a monstrous 35 points to lead BRHS to a 78-55 win over Grant County High of Kentucky. A 6-foot-3 sharpshooter who will prolong his career at Rollins College in Orlando, Long has expanded his game as a heady playmaker who can orchestrate the offensive tempo.
More adept at going to the rim and scoring in the one-on-one game, Long has increased his overall game. With deft interior passing, a tighter handle, and the incorporation of a pull-up game to his arsenal, he now boasts a more crafty tool-set.
A performance of this magnitude is emblematic of the type of senior campaign Long is authoring.
Ben Lubarsky, Benjamin
While Palm Beach Lakes defeated Benjamin 89-77, it was the stellar scoring of Lubarsky that paced Benjamin. The 6-foot-5 left-handed guard/forward turned in a game best 28 points. Lubarsky, known for his adroit touch and ability to score the ball at all three levels, recently eclipsed the 1,000-point milestone during a 64-63 victory over Oxbridge Academy.
Now averaging 26 points and 10 boards per game, the Class of 2019 Lubarsky is having a breakout year.
Juan Joray, Killian
Colombian guard turned in a super efficient performance, scoring 13 points on 5-for-8 shooting in Killian’s 78-43 thrashing of Coral Reef. Joray has been a key 3-point triggerman thus far. He connected on 3-of-4 from beyond the arc in steering Killian (which defeated David Crockett of Tennessee, 78-53, in the Adidas Holiday Slam) to the end to end drubbing.
Elton Walker, Killian
The bouncy, athletic 6-foot-5, 195-pound guard/forward showed his all around game with a 27 point, nine rebound performance in the aforementioned 78-53 win over David Crockett (TN) during the Adidas Holiday Slam. While Walker’s game is synonymous with athleticism and dazzling above the rim finishes, he’s become more reliant on a smooth mid-range game and evolving 3-point stroke.
