Top Performers: Palm Beach County
Chance Dixon, Santaluces High
When canvassing “who’s who” of South Florida’s elite level shooters, it would be a disservice to Dixon to leave him off the list.
The Class of 2020 guard has the type of contagious shooting touch capable of breaking open a game when red-hot.
An innate dagger man, Dixon seized the hot hand and never squandered it during a 64-60 win over Palm Beach Lakes. Dixon hit five 3-pointers, piloting the perimeter presence. Dixon went 5-for-8 from beyond the arc in another performance back on Dec.9.
In an area of the state that’s churned out 1990s-era NBA icons such as Derek Harper and Otis Thorpe, Dixon’s evolution as a 3-point rainmaker shows the hoops culture is intact.
Malaccai Davis-Issa, Spanish River High School
Davis-Issa posted 25 points and 12 rebounds as the engine which propelled Spanish River to a 77-57 win over Village Academy in the Palm Beach Shootout semifinals.
Davis-Issa has shouldered a leadership role for the Boca Raton-based program.
He put together a 33-point outburst, including the game-winner as time expired, in a wild 95-93 victory over Boca Raton High earlier this month.
Jammy Pierre-Louis, St. Andrew’s High School
The 6-foot-1,165-pound guard pieced together a titanic performance in scoring a career-high 41 points during St. Andrew’s thorough, end to end 91-63 slaying of West Boca.
With his eruption, Pierre-Louis eclipsed the single game record (of 40) previously held by Anthony Polite.
It just so happened that Polite, the former Palm Beach County Player of the Year, was in attendance to see it all. The 6-foot-6 guard, now at Florida State, was being honored by his alma mater the very same night.
An adept long range shooter who loves to spot up and fire corner 3-pointers, Pierre-Louis has expanded as a scorer.
He’s added more of an off the dribble game and is now capable of breaking down defenders in one on one fashion and attacking the rim.
