Top International Talents: Grind Session
Luguentz Dort, Athlete’s Institute
Man-child 6-foot-4 Class of 2018 guard is one of the country’s best in-traffic dunkers and scorers. Dort, who committed to Arizona State recently, has improved with a steady 3-point shot and reliable mid-range game. A bullish guard who gets into the lane with ease, the Canadian has had several 30+ point games this season.
David Appelgren, NTSI Orlando
One of the best kept secrets, Orlando area 7-foot-1 stretch four type is a steal. Can knock down the deep 3-pointer and hit 18-20 footers with consistency, albeit he’s worked at a maniacal pace in developing a dependable back to the bucket game. Has interest from Incarnate Word but should attract more programs and offers as he is seen in showcase events. Sweden big has European guard skill-set.
Roberts Dempskis, Believe Prep
At 6-foot-9 and with crafty finishing ability with either hand, Dempskis is an accurate depiction of a gamer. He plays hard, he hustles for 50-50 balls, and he matches up well with bigger bodies in the post. Has been showing a feathery 18-footer more and more. Latvian has an offer from Austin Peay.
Karim Coulibaly, Scotland Campus Sports
Since arriving in the United States from Mali, Africa, Coulibaly has been a walking double double. The 6-foot-9 forward can take big rim protectors outside of the key with his soft left-handed touch. He’s also adept at throwing head fakes and fighting for buckets down low. He won’t blow you away with his athleticism, but he’s gritty and workmanlike in the post. St. John’s, Providence, and Rutgers have offered.
Milan Stakic, Scotland Campus Sports
The big Bosnian has come a long way since being extremely rough around the edges during his first year in the country at The Conrad School in Orlando. The 7-foot-2, 238-pound Center developed a stable 15-footer and 3-point game. He gained confidence when he erupted for an extravagant dunk against ISA-Naples last year and has been a different player since. Oklahoma State, Marshall, and several other programs are interested.
