Prospect Spotlight: Tyrec Thompson (2019)
Tyrec Thompson led Treasure Coast with 15.5 PPG last season.
The 2019 guard is back at the forefront of the Titans group. Treasure Coast went 22-4 a year ago losing to eventual Class 9A state champion Osceola in the region semifinals.
Thompson, a 6’2″, 170-pounder called this last season amazing under a well-coached team.
“I was proud of the team and how much they put in at practice to get where we got last year which was the 2 round of regionals,” Thompson told Prep Hoops Florida. “I couldn’t have done it without them.”
He says his expectations for this season are to stay focused on and off the court and do what’s best for the program. Thompson also wants to make his family proud and show them that they raised a smart and talented young man who wants to go off to college and do big things in life.
Thompson started playing AAU ball five years ago under Treasure Coast Elite. This summer was a good one, he says as he was able to play against Division-I and Division-II talent.
He says his on and off the ball defense improved this past season. He’s still looking to get his shooting percentage higher.
Thompson is a pure athlete who can score in bunches. His athleticism gives him an edge wherever he is on the floor. His basketball IQ is top notch and helps Treasure Coast hang around in most games. The Titans have a good group intact led by one of the craftiest juniors in the state.
