The Rock’s Antrell Charlton Talks Schedule, Recruitment, and New-Look Team
PH: How would you describe the identity of this The Rock team, being driven by guard play and featuring a lot of guys who have waited their turn through the years?
AC: This year we feel like we are more of a scoring by committee type of team. We all compete and play really hard.
PH: What were some of the key factors in gutting out a 77-74 win over Miramar? What were some of the key ingredients late in the game, as you guys persevered through adversity and remained poised during critical moments?
AC: We had to really fight to get the win in that environment. Them being the home team, we weren’t really getting that many calls. We had to really dig deep and show toughness and not let it affect us. This enabled us to pull out the win.
PH: Which programs have offered you a scholarship thus far? Who is the most active in your recruitment and who have you been hearing from the most as of recently?
AC: I still currently only have one offer, and that’s from (Division-I) Stetson. But the most active as of lately are programs such as Winthrop, Utah Valley, Stetson, and Eastern Kentucky.
PH: How would you describe the level of toughness that’s really demanded night in and night out in the SIAA (Sunshine Independent Athletic Association), which has always been regarded as one of both Florida and the country’s best conferences? What do you feel makes it different from other conferences throughout Florida?
PH: It demands a lot of toughness, because skill doesn’t really determine winning and losing. It’s all about how hard you play and how much toughness you put into it. Because right now just about every team is equal as far as talent-wise. And, it is very different from other conferences because each team within the conference has 2-4 Division-I players on the roster. You really have to bring your best every night to survive.
