Prospect Spotlight: Jesse White (2020)
Jesse White is currently a 6’1 sophomore at Sam Barlow High School, and is coming off his freshman season starting for the Bruins, averaging about 14 points and 4 assists. White was announced an all-conference player in the Mt.Hood conference. He poses an incredible scoring threat, and also knows how to make the right play when defenses collapse on him. Another thing that people don’t realize, is that he is a very good defensive player as well. He is very active, physical, and will put intense pressure on ball handlers. White led the Bruins all year long and proved he could handle the responsibilities on his shoulders as being the freshman point guard. “He’s never afraid of the moment, and doesn’t back down from a challenge” said coach Tom Johnson. One thing unique about White, is he has proven that he can get really hot in a hurry, and put up points in bunches. In the off-season, White played AAU for the 15U Elite 24 EYBL team, and helped lead his team to a great spring/summer. While playing very good competition, White showed dominance all year long, with a touch of flare to his game. He also went to the Crossroads Elite Invitational in Indiana during the summer, and was lighting it up the entire weekend. On the final day of camp, he was selected for the all star game with some of the top players in the country and represented Oregon very nicely with a 13 point performance. To prepare for the upcoming sophomore season White has been working immensely on his decision making, shot making ability, and overall athleticism. With only having a few colleges with him on their radar, he has been putting in a lot of work to change that and “put his name on map.” White without a doubt is one of the top sophomores in the Northwest and with his tireless work ethic, and dedication to the game, the future looks to be extremely bright for this young man.
