Prospect Spotlight: Jared Ebanks (2018)
Jared Ebanks has had to overcome many adversities in his athletic career. He’s dealt with injuries the past two years, but is looking to make a strong comeback in his senior season. The 5’9 155 pound wing/point swung varsity last season on a competitive, senior heavy team. Ebanks has been a proven threat from deep with great court vision down floor. He looks to thrive this season in a fast paced offense predicated on dribble drives and open threes. His quickness and speed will also be a major factor in the defensive pressure of the hawks this season. “I’m really looking forward to the uptempo style of play we’ll be utilizing this season” Ebanks said. “We have an extremely talented and deep roster this year, and i’m excited to see what we’ll be able to accomplish”.
This summer Ebanks was sidelined with a partially torn hamstring he suffered in a spring AAU tournament game. The injury held him out of the summer season with the Skyhawks, but was still a part of the team and was a large factor vocally as well as energy wise during practices and games.
Jared has played for Elite 24 the past 3 years where he was one of the main scoring and facilitating options. Although Jared was sidelined during a portion of the summer AAU session, he was able to come back and have a good outing in Boston for the 17U Elite Volt team where he received looks from Division 3 schools on the East Coast.
Ebanks worked tirelessly to not only get back to where he was physically, but improved athletically and with his skills during the 3 months he was out. While being in the best shape of his athletic career, Ebanks realized how far his determination and work ethic took him during the process. During the offseason Ebanks focused on quickening his shot release as well as ball handling. Athletic improvement was a major factor during his physical therapy as Jared worked 3 times a week with a therapist strengthening his hamstring and core.
Ebanks looks to have a large impact this season with the Skyhawks as his work ethic and game has never been better.
