Top 250 Expo Prospect Spotlight: Allen Cox (2020)
Cox is a sophomore at Windermere who came to the Expo to rank himself among Florida’s best. He wanted to see where he stood, what the competition is like around the state. I caught up with him after the Expo to discuss his experience.
Q: What was your experience like in Daytona at the Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo?
The event was well structured. The coaches and staff had us doing good drills and they were pushing us to become better players. It was a very competitive environment when we did our 5v5 scrimmaging. We received a detailed evaluation after attending the camp. My experience was great at the Top 250 Expo.
Q: Where did you first hear about it?
I heard about the Top 250 Expo through a friend and I saw advertisements on social media.
Q: What was the best thing you learned?
By attending this camp, I learned where my skill set is amongst some of the best players in Florida area. I also found out some of my strengths and weaknesses that I can work on to get better.
Q: What positives in your game grew? What negative in your game did you notice and try to fix?
One positive in my game that has grown would be my ball handling and passing. A negative in my game that I noticed was my defense. While at the camp, I noticed that I was not staying low and moving my feet on defense.
Q: Would you recommend the expo to your peers? How come?
I would recommend this event to any of my friends who would like to get an evaluation so they can work on getting better. Prep Hoops does a good job getting players exposure. This is a great way to meet new coaches and meet new players.
Q: What is your role looking like this season?
This season my role is to be a leader on the court. Also, I hope to be a threat on both defense and offense.
Cox has plenty of time to fulfill his role in the coming months. Just because he’s an underclassman, doesn’t mean Cox cant assume the position of a motivator. Check out the Top 250 underclassmen highlight-film created by R.A.W.E. Recruits.
