Top 250 Expo Prospect Report: Ryan Radke (2018)
Radke is a Tampa-Jesuit senior who came to the Expo with the mind of a sponge. There wasn’t one area of the day that he didn’t find value, in. We spoke about his time there a few days after the Expo.
Q: What was your experience like in Daytona at the Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo?
My experience was pretty good. I saw some talent and was impressed by some of the competition I was going against. The time went by very fast since I was having a fun time getting experience.
Q: Where did you first hear about it?
I first heard about it from Jake Perper. He messaged me and strongly advised that it would be helpful for me. At first I was hesitant to go, but Jake convinced me to go, along with my teammate Thierry Molierre who was there, as well.
Q: What was the best thing you learned?
There was nothing specific that I learned the best. I’d say as a whole, it was my learning experience. Watching and playing with these good players showed me that I have the ability to improvise off of different situations. I learned I can take one play and make it better the next time down the court.
Q: What positives in your game grew? What negative in your game did you notice and try to fix?
The positive in my game that grew would be my shooting. I took some shots in the games that helped me know that I can shoot from anywhere I wanted. I gained more confidence in my shot, which is going to help it overall. The negative in my game I noticed would be handling the ball under-pressure. The first game or two, I didn’t expect the defense to go as hard. I fixed it by the last game. In the last game, I came down the court knowing the defense would be there, so I think I fixed my problem.
Q: Would you recommend the expo to your peers? How come?
Yes I would recommend the Expo to my peers. It’s because the Expo provides competition throughout the state that allows you to see your current situation against good people. The expo also has good coaches that are willing to give you tips on how to improve your game.
Q: What is your role looking like this season?
My role this season is to be a solid starter that will help my team go far, this season. I am going to be a shooter ready to make any threes at any time. I am going to help bring the ball up and facilitate off of our plays and fast breaks.
I can tell Radke’s level of confidence in himself has risen since leaving Daytona. This is exactly what our Expo is designed to do. Look out for a standout final campaign by Radke at Jesuit.
