Top 250 Expo Prospect Report: Radames De Jesus Leyva Rodriguez (2021)
This Coral Springs Charter freshman used this Expo experience to learn ways to become quicker with the ball in his hands. Whether starting out at the junior varsity level, or making a splash with the big boys, Rodriguez is looking to become an asset in any way possible. We spoke about his time at the Expo a few days after it ended.
Q: What was your experience like in Daytona at the Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo?
My experience was great. I got to see a lot of great players from different parts of the state, get use to different styles of play, and receive help with exposure. Also, this was all in sunny Daytona next to some of Florida’s best beaches. It was honestly a great experience.
Q: Where did you first hear about it?
At first, I saw Prep Hoops on social media. I’ve seen some of the best players play in some expos or camps. The next thing I knew, there it was, an invite to the Expo. So, I just got into it.
Q: What was the best thing you learned?
I’ve learned a lot of things at the Prep Hoops Expo. From better shooting spots, to driving and changing speeds. But, the best thing I’ve learned, which has helped me out in tournaments the past weeks, is driving and pump-faking. Its changed my game and I’ve been able to get better and score more effortlessly.
Q: What positives in your game grew? What negative in your game did you notice and try to fix?
A positive that really improved would be my shooting and driving. Its really gotten to another level. A negative that I’ve tried to fix was my hop-step and my spins on the drive.
Q: Would you recommend the expo to your peers? How come?
I would definitely recommend the Expo to my peers. Now, the reason is because it really provides a foundation to build off from and a way to get more exposure. Prep Hoops is a great service and I 100% recommend it to anyone that is looking for exposure at any level.
Q: What is your role looking like this season?
Last year I was coming off the bench, but I would still be able to make 20 about 2-3 games a tournament. This season, I’m looking forward to starting or move up my minutes in travel ball. Now school ball, which last year I started and did very well, I look forward to more competition Hopefully going for one year in JV, and then next year going to Varsity.
Rodriguez has high hopes for his first season in high school, coming up. He showed that he can hang with the best of them when it comes to skill on-the-floor. Check out the Top 250 underclassmen highlight-film created by R.A.W.E. Recruits.
