Top 250 Expo Prospect Report: Jaylin Johnson
Dr. Phillips has a new guy in town, and he’s hungry. The senior came to the Expo looking to up his stock in a few ways. He let me know a few things after his time, there.
Q: What was your experience like in Daytona at the Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo?
I had a great time in Daytona. I had a chance to showcase my talent against other good players and in front of coaches that have never seen me play before.
Q: Where did you first hear about it?
I first heard about the event on Twitter. I know Prep Hoops has a big name so I looked at it as a chance to get looked at, and to play against good competition.
Q: What was the best thing you learned?
The best thing I learned, would probably be the driving and pull up drills that I can do on my own at anytime.
Q: What positives in your game grew? What negative in your game did you notice and try to fix?
A positive, would be my ability to create for others such as getting assists and to get my shot off from anywhere on the court. A negative would probably be shooting inconsistently.
Q: Would you recommend the expo to your peers? How come?
Yes, I would. Prep Hoops had good coaches and trainers there that gave me a few tips and pointers. It’s a chance to showcase your skills in front of coaches.
Q: What is your role looking like this season?
I moved from N.Y. to Orlando this past summer and now I’m going to school at Dr. Phillips. Being the new kid might be a challenge, but I’m ready for it. I see me and the team winning a lot of games this season.
Johnson can be a guy that the Orlando area really didn’t see coming, if he puts in the time and energy. He comes off like he wants to work for his spot. Go out there and get it, Jay!
