Top 250 Expo Prospect Report: Devyn Chambers (2018)
This Deltona senior came ready to give a great effort at the Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo on Saturday, September 30th at DME Academy in Daytona Beach. I reached out to Devyn about his Expo experience.
Q: What was your experience like in Daytona at the Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo?
My experience at the 250 Expo was good. I learned a lot from the coaches and the advice they gave me on my game. Also, the coaches told me a lot of lessons of college basketball, and what it takes to get there.
Q: Where did you first hear about it?
I first heard about the Expo through a text I received on my phone. It sounded really good and I was very interested in attending.
Q: What was the best thing you learned?
The best thing I learned was ball-handling drills. Those were probably the best and most-advanced ball handling drills I’ve done. Each one was a struggle, therefore it pushed and motivated me to do it until l I mastered it.
Q: What positive in your game grew? What negative in your game did you notice and try to fix?
The positive thing that grew in my game involved driving and finishing at the rim. Also, getting better at creating for others to get open. A negative I noticed in my game that I need to work on involves consistent shooting and my dribble pull-up.
Q: Would you recommend the expo to your peers? How come?
Yes, I would. There was good competition and drills to improve your game. There was a good amount of college coaches to showcase your skills and give a impression. The coaches all played college basketball at different level, so you should listen to everything there saying when they talking to you because they trying help you with potentially playing college basketball.
Q: What is your role looking like this season?
My role on my high school team involves leading and stepping up. Doing whatever it takes to win, whether it’s scoring, defending or passing. With having state finals experience, I have to set the mindset and show what it takes to get to the state championship.
Devyn did a nice job at playing solid defense, and keeping his hands active while raking in a couple of steals. Looking forward to hearing what comes from him, this season.
