Florida Top 250 Expo Prospect Report: Phillip Russell (2019)
2019 Lincoln guard Phillip Russell was one of 53 upperclassmen and 86 total prospects in attendance at the Prep Hoops Florida Top 250 Expo on Saturday at DME Academy in Daytona Beach.
I sat down with Russell to talk about his time at the expo.
The 6’4″ guard called it a great experience overall.
“I loved learning and doing different drills. Playing better competition was good too it got me going faster than I expected,” Russell said. “This camp is full of nothing but things that make u better.”
He said he first heard about the showcase on Twitter.
In terms of what Russell says learned about his game was to be more of a team player, focus on defense and share the ball more.
He called the camp something he would recommend to his peers.
Russell heads into his junior year. He says his role is to the main scorer and hardest working guy on the team.
He currently has one offer on his plate from Eastern Florida State. He’s also drawn interest from Florida Southern, Queens University of Charlotte, Montclair State, Ohio, University of Tampa, University of Charleston and Marshall.
I expect solid things from Russell this fall. I’ve seen him play a bunch and he continues to become a smarter player throughout games.
