Florida Top 250 Expo Prospect Report: Malcolm Whitlow (2019)
2019 Carrollwood Day guard Malcolm Whitlow was one of 53 upperclassmen and 86 total prospects in attendance at the Prep Hoops Florida Top 250 Expo on Saturday, Sept. 30th at DME Academy in Daytona Beach.
I caught up with Whitlow to talk about his time at the expo. He previously played at Lincoln Northeast (Nebraska) averaging 22.1 points per a year ago.
Q: What was your experience like in Daytona at the Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo?
A: I had a great experience at the Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo.
Q: Where did you first hear about it?
A: I heard from my coach Teddy Owens at CDS.
Q: What was the best thing you learned?
A: The best thing I learned was how hard you have to work on and off the court.
Q: What positive in your game grew? What negative in your game did you notice and try to fix?
A: One positive in my game is my improved jump shot. A negative I have in my game is staying low when I have the ball and I work on that by staying low at all times.
Q: Would you recommend the expo to your peers? How come?
A: I would because it was a good camp with a lot of talent.
Q: What is your role looking like this season?
A: My role this season is to be a point guard and lead a young team to a lot of victories.
Whitlow caught my attention time and time again at the expo. He found his groove with corner 3’s and flashed his point guard skills. Considering his previous success as a sophomore in Nebraska, I fully expect the 6’1″ guard to lead the charge at Carrollwood Day this fall.
