High School’s across Kentucky have opened their doors for the start of a new school year, leading Prep Hoops Kentucky to open its doors to “way-to-early” preseason outlooks. Over the next few days we will give you our “Super Six Projections”, breaking down our picks for the top six players in Kentucky’s 16 regions. Here we breakdown the 7th Region.
**Just like the 6th Region, the 7th is just too talented to narrow down it’s “top six”. Below is a comprehensive look at our top player projections for the upcoming season.
7th Region “Super Six” Projections:
- David Johnson, Louisville Trinity / 6’4, G / 2019
Johnson is ranked as one of the top 2019 prospects in the entire country. He recently just committed to Louisville and will look to help lead the Shamrocks to a state championship appearance this season.
- Jayden Scrubb, Louisville Trinity / 6’5 F / 2018
Scrubb helps provide Trinity with one of the most talented one-two punches in the state playing alongside Johnson. He holds offers from California State Long Beach and Youngstown State.
- Pierce Kiesler, St. Xavier / 6’6, F / 2018
Kiesler is a top forward in Kentucky’s 2018 class and was recently offered by Ohio Dominican (D II). The Tigers won 19 games last season while Kiesler averaged 16 points and 6 rebounds per game.
- Jordan McCleandon, DuPont Manual / 6’2, G / 2018
McCleandon averaged just under 10 points and right at 6 rebounds per game last season. He shot 44.5% from the field.
- Dorin Tisby, Louisville Ballard / 6’3, SG / 2018
With a number of seniors graduating last season, look for Tisby to average more than his 9.1 average from his junior campaign. Tisby also averaged 4 rebounds and nearly 60% from the field.
- Jordan Pulford, Atherton / 6’5 wing / 2018
Pulford will be relied on to lead Atherton this season after the graduation of Flynn Calnon, who led Atherton in scoring last season. Pulford is a 6’5 wing with small college interest from Pfeiffer University, Maryville College, Lyon College, Tuskegee University.
- JJ Kalakon, Waggener / 6’4, Wing / 2019
Kalakon took advantage of AAU ball this summer, balling out and receiving offers from Morehead State, Robert Morris, and SEMO. As a sophomore, he averaged 10 points and and 5.1 rebounds per game.
- Hunter McCutchen, Louisville Male / 6’0, G / 2019
McCutchen will look to lead Male back near the top of the region this season. As a sophomore, he averaged 13.5 points while shooting right at 43% from the field (42% from 3-point range).
- Alex Holley, Louisville Ballard / 6’6, SF / 2019
At 6’6, Holley is a college small forward prototype. Now it’s time to see him put it all together. Super talented, will look for more of a role with the graduation of Clivonte Patterson.
- Jamil Hardaway, Louisville Trinity / 6’4, F / 2019
Played up this summer with Louisville Prospects (2018) and is sure to be beneficial. Averaged just under 6 points as a sophomore on an ultra talented Trinity team.
- Stan Tunier, Louisville Trinity / 6’4, SG / 2019
Tunier averaged 5.3 points as a sophomore and will look to back-up an already talented back-court at Trinity.
- Justin Powell, Louisville Trinity / 6’5, G / 2020
Did we mention how talented Trinity is? Powell is ranked as Kentucky’s top 2020 prospect and already holds offers from Aurburn and Xavier. At 6’5, he has the ability to play both guard positions.
