High School’s across Kentucky have opened their doors for the start of a new school year, leading Prep Hoops Kentucky to open its doors to “way-to-early” preseason outlooks. Over the next few days we will give you our “Super Six Projections”, breaking down our picks for the top six players in Kentucky’s 16 regions. Here we breakdown the 12th Region.
Top Players in the 12th Region:
Trevon Faulkner, Mercer County
- Faulkner may find himself as a preseason front runner candidate for Kentucky’s Mr. Basketball. Faulkner had a great summer playing with Twenty Two Vision (adidas gold gauntlet) and committed to Northern Kentucky at the end of the summer. Last season he averaged 24.2 points and 12 rebounds per game.
Steven Fitzgerald, Pulaski County
- Fitzgerald is visiting Samford and has offers from Ball State, Middle Tennessee, Stetson, and has visited Virginia Tech. He helped lead Pulaski County to a state tournament berth last season, winning the 12 Region championship. He averaged 25.1 points and 9 rebounds per game last season.
Danny Butt, Pulaski County
- Danny Butt committed to play at the University of the Cumberlands at the end of his junior season. Look for Butt to want to help lead the Maroons back to the state tournament, as he suffered injures at the end of the season last year and wasn’t 100% healthy.
Hunter Stevens, Southwestern
- Stevens averaged 12 points per game while shooting 42% from 3-point range. Southwestern won 24 games last season.
DeShaud St. Martin, Danville
- St. Martin had a solid summer playing for MATTS Mustangs. Look for him to have more progress going into his junior season. He averaged 9 points and 5.1 rebounds as a sophomore.
Max Reyes, Casey County
- Reyes averaged 14 points per game for the Rebels last season and will look to help Casey County improve on a 9-21 record.
Carter Baughman, Mercer County
- Baughman started really gaining college interest this summer and looks to take off this year as a junior.
Riley Bodner, Lincoln County
- Bodner is one of Kentucky’s top 2020 prospects and a force in the paint. Bodner will be relied this coming season to have more responsibility and be a presence in the post.
