Prospect Spotlight: Jakob Hester (2020)
2020 Anclote forward Jakob Hester is an emerging talent.
The 6’5″, 200-pounder averaged 14.4 points, 11.8 rebounds and 3.2 blocks per game for the Sharks. Anclote finished 16-11 and Hester called it an amazing experience.
“I learned a lot playing with the player of the year in Pasco County Marquez Cooper and playing under coach Michael Cooper. I was used primarily as an inside player on offense and a shot blocker and a rebounder on defense. I learned that I had to play physical inside or I would not be successful.
The part of my game that grew the most was my offensive abilities. With my height, I was always able to block shots and rebound but this year I started to pick up my offensive game. My role next year at Anclote will be an all around player that makes my teammates better and to be the go to guy inside.”
Starting his basketball career only three years ago at age 12, Hester has risen rather quickly. He spent this summer working on getting stronger, his ball handling and his jump shot. He played with Team Coop Select for the last three years as well.
Hester called his blocking, rebounding and inside scoring his biggest strengths.
Anclote is going to be in good hands with Hester taking the next step forward in his second high school season. Look for him to really develop as a sophomore. No offers or interest have come yet for Hester, but that will change.
