Prospect Spotlight: Ethan McEachern (2020)
Lakeridge’s sophomore Ethan McEachern is a 6’0 pure point guard who is a high-level passer, shooter and playmaker and is quickly building a reputation for his basketball IQ and feel for the game. McEachern will be a key contributor for Lakeridge this upcoming season and will play alongside highly touted 6’4 senior wing Immanuel Allen and 6’2 Junior guard Christian Allen.
As a freshman McEachern played point guard on the JV team and was able to swing up in the postseason for the varsity. He had a solid season averaging 16 points, 8 assists, and 2 steals a game. McEachern wants to have a big sophomore season and earn a reputation for being one of the best guards in the state. “I think this could be our year, despite loosing 9 seniors we have two of the best defenders in the state in Christian Allen and Jake Fedrizzi, and we have a top five player in Immanuel Allen. Expect us to play with great tempo and we’ll be a very fun team to watch. Don’t be surprised to see us playing at the Chiles Center in March.”
This spring and summer McEachern played with the Portland Basketball Club’s 15u team. He played both guard spots and saw his game evolve as he played against top competition from all parts of the country which was highlighted by his top performance in week one of the July live period by our Prep Hoops staff. McEachern also attended the New England All-Academic Camp at Brandeis University outside of Boston and the Brown University Elite Camp. McEachern played well at both camps and these experiences proved to be valuable opportunities to showcase his skill set beyond the Northwest. McEachern is an emerging college prospect, how athletic he becomes will determine what level he is capable of playing at. Be on the lookout for Ethan McEachern during the 2017-2018 high school season as Lakeridge strives to make an impact in the state playoffs.
