Prospect Spotlight: Adelyas Reaves (2019)
Adelyas Reaves became a known commodity a year ago.
The 6’3″, 180-pound guard had 16 double-digit performances for a Tarpon Springs team that finished the season 4-22. Reaves averaged 11.4 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. The 2019 prospect announced he’ll be transferring to Santa Fe for his junior campaign.
Reaves loved Jerry Woodka and his coaching staff but felt he needed more exposure and to his improve his game a bit more at a new school.
He called this past season a great experience.
“I was a starter who wasn’t afraid. I always attacked my defender,” Reaves told Prep Hoops Florida. “I become a leader who learned more fundamentals, having more courage with the ball and being coachable. Also, having a friendship off the court with my teammates, making them work harder and learning from mistakes.”
Reaves pointed to his mid-range jumper, ball handling and free throws as a few things that improved last season.
He plans to be a leader at Santa Fe while scoring, taking care of the ball and playing lockdown defense.
Reaves played this summer for Team Under Pressure aiming to get stronger in his upper body and gain more experience.
He started his basketball career at age 4 and called his biggest strengths his ability to get to the basket and shot inside the 3-point line.
No offers have come yet for Reaves, but after being the man as a sophomore for Tarpon Springs, he’ll certainly fit right into a successful program at Santa Fe. Reaves hustles inside as a slasher and as a rebounder. He’s a 2019 prospect to evaluate further this fall.
