Max Oles talks transfer to Ormond Beach Calvary Christian, interest and more
Max Oles has decided to transfer to Ormond Beach Calvary Christian for his sophomore season.
The 2020 guard averaged 6.9 points per game for Spruce Creek on a Hawks team that finished 18-8 in Class 9A play. Now, Oles will play at the Class 2A level for a Lions team that went 2-17 a year ago and had five 8th graders contributing.
“This past season I started out on JV, then after four games there, I got moved up to varsity which really increased my confidence and just knowing I can hang and play with those kids,” Oles told Prep Hoops Florida. “I learned a lot from this past season with actually realizing how good I am, also I learned that confidence is a huge part of basketball which many people don’t realize.”
Oles plans to be the main guy on the court for his new team and to get his teammates involved as much as possible in the scoring aspect.
The 6’0″, 152-pounder spent this summer playing two months with the Orlando Captains and then went to Team CP25 for the final two months.
Oles says he focused a lot on ball handling and getting shots off the dribble during travel ball.
He started playing basketball at age 12 and points to his strengths as his ability to shoot the ball even from 3-4 feet behind the line, his decision making and passing. Also, I’ve been working on decision making so I’d say passing is defiantly a strength in my game.
Currently, no offers have come yet for Oles but he turned a few heads last season and this summer. He’s drawn interest from FIT, Stetson, UNF and Georgia Southern.
Look for Oles to earn an offer in the near future. He is maturing into an all-around player and now he’ll have the chance to be the feature guy for his new team, Ormond Beach Calvary Christian. He’s a 2020 guard to keep a close eye on.
