2018 G Trey Doomes talks transfer to University, offers and more
Trey Doomes is now in Florida.
After playing at Allatoona, the 2018 guard enters his senior season with University School. He’ll play with Prep Hoops Florida No. 1 ranked 2019 prospect Vernon Carey Jr. and No. 1 ranked 2020 prospect Scottie Barnes.
The Sharks also added junior guard Drue Drinnon from Georgia, our No. 17 ranked 2018 prospect. Also, 2019 guard Logan Alters returns on the University roster.
Doomes, the 6’4″, 175-pounder says he made the move down to Florida because he felt like this was another blessing God sent him that he couldn’t pass up.
“Playing with Vernon, Scottie, Drue, Logan and other great role players I felt like the national schedule and the level of competition we will be playing will prepare me for college faster,” Doomes told Prep Hoops Florida.
He says he expects his role to be the captain of the team and the senior that the Sharks rely on. He plans to have a big impact on all areas and aspect of his game.
Doomes learned a lot during his junior season in Georgia.
“This past season at Allatoona, I learned how to have a complete game overall because my team counted on me to make big plays when things got tough,” he said. “And I’d have to say the biggest part of my game that increased was my jump shot and my basketball IQ.”
This summer, Doomes played with Nike Team Florida. he called it a summer that he won’t forget and by far his best AAU experience he’s ever had.
“I was focused on winning and doing whatever I can to help my team be in the best position to do that,” he said. “A lot of schools that offered me or had interest wanted to see me shoot the ball a little better because at the next level shooting the ball is something you’ll definitely need to have if I wanted to take my game to another level.
“Most coaches said if I mastered my jump shot I’d be unstoppable because they know I can get to the basket great and finish with both hands around the rim or find my teammate for a great pass.”
Domes starting playing basketball at age 3 with his father.
He pointed to his ability to get to the basket and finish through contact with either hand as his biggest strengths. He wants to continue to improve his jump shot and master that.
Currently, Doomes has 20 offers including Middle Tennessee, Troy, Towson, Mercer, Kennesaw State, USF, Buffalo, Tennessee Tech, Georgia, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Georgia Southern, Furman, FGCU, East Carolina, James Madison, Wofford, Ole Miss, UTEP and Arkansas State.
He’s also drawing interest from UF, Vanderbilt, Rhode Island, William & Mary and Louisville.
Doomes ranks No. 31 in our latest 2018 rankings. He is a true shooting guard who can make plays all over the court. Doomes is legit in transition and he will do wonders for a University program that is loaded up front with Carey Jr. and Barnes.
