Recruiting Report: Michael Randolph (2018)
Michael Randolph heads into his senior season at Booker T. Washington.
After averaging 12.8 points per game as a sophomore, the 6’5″, 161-pounder went onto to average 14.4 points per game, 6.3 rebounds per game, 3.2 assists per game and 2.5 steals per game a year ago.
“This past season was one of my best seasons. I felt like my game sprouted in different ways,” Randolph told Prep Hoops Florida. “The thing I learned most was being aggressive so I could get my teammates open and be a playmaker. Shooting the ball was the part of my game that grew tremendously.
I felt like I hit shots that coaches were looking for. I’ll have a bit of everything this year since we lost two valuable bigs, but I’m up for the challenge. I want to fill the stat sheet up like Russell Westbrook which is my favorite player since Kobe Bryant left. So my role will be big, but I’m looking forward to it.”
Randolph spent his third summer with Team CP25. He says they treat their players well and overall it is a great organization to be a part of.
“This summer I was focusing on my pick and roll read,” he said. “The game is transitioning to a pick and roll game so I work on that a lot at the gym. It’s going well, I can read the screen much faster than I usually read them.”
He started playing basketball at age 4. Randolph says his dad bought an outside basketball hoop and he’d go out every day regardless of if it was by himself or not.
Randolph called his biggest strengths, his ability to attack the rim, be a playmaker and be a good defender. He’s aiming to improve his strength so he can finish even more at the basket.
Currently, he has offers FAMU and Alcorn State. Also, interest has come from Georgia, Stetson, Presbyterian, Tulsa, South Alabama and Troy.
Look for Randolph to have a standout senior year for the Wildcats. He’s playing alongside five other 2018 prospects. We will be tracking his progress all season long.
