Viewing Period 1 Wrap Up
As teams from Oregon flew around the country to compete in a variety of tournaments, Prep Hoops was monitoring it all to see who stood out, got offers, and improved their stock. Oregon was represented in Georgia, Anaheim, and Bellevue this weekend. Here is what you need to know from each location.
Georgia – Nike Peach Jam
Kamaka Hepa – Portland Basketball Club 17U/Jefferson HS
Continued his impressive play and has firmly entrenched himself on virtually every Top 50 list nationally (#45 at Prep Hoops). Has emerged as a priority 2018 recruit for national runner up Gonzaga. Also viewed by most of the Pac 12, Texas, and numerous other power 5 conference schools last week.
Immanuel Allen – Portland Basketball Club 17U/Lakeridge HS
The explosive athlete stood out over the course of the 3 game tourney, including a 22 point 12 rebound effort in PBC’s game 2 victory. Although no D1 school has officially offered, Allen has picked up heavy interest from several schools include Cal, Pepperdine, Portland State, and others.
Anaheim – Double Pump Tournament
Filip Fullerton – Team Fly 17U/Southridge HS
The 6’10 Fullerton, who we featured earlier in the month had a monster tournament averaging 20+ points a game to go along with solid rim defense. Has started hearing from several D1 programs including Portland State, Colorado, Pepperdine, Oregon St, and Army.
Matt Van Tassell – Team Fly 17U/Mt. View HS
The athletic 6’7 post had a nice weekend and showcased a more consistent motor which has drawn increased interest from west coast D2, NAIA, & D3 programs.
Dyshawn Hobson – Team Fly 17U/Corvallis HS
The ever improving point guard did what he does best, lead his team to a nice weekend. His biggest strength is his ability to get the ball to the right guys at the right time and keep everyone on the same page on both ends of the floor.
Kaison Faust – Team Flight 17U/North Medford HS
The athletic 6’1 wing from the southern part of the state averaged nearly 20 points a game and played lock down perimeter defense in leading his team to the semifinals of the Gold bracket in Anaheim.
JR Schilling – Elite 24 17U/Lake Oswego HS
Had a big weekend in leading his team to the round of 16 in the Elite Division. Averaged 20 points and 7 rebounds and displayed improved perimeter defense and is now hearing from west coast schools like Chaminade, San Diego, Cal Poly, and Point Loma.
Dane Agost – Elite 24 17U/Clackamas HS
The rapidly improving post man showed off his athleticism on his way to a double double average and is starting to hearing from D1 & D2 programs from throughout the west.
Deray Seamster – Elite 24 15U/Central Catholic HS
No Oregon player put on a scoring display to match Seamster who had a tourney high of 43 points on his way to averaging 28 a game as his team made the quarterfinals of the Top 15U bracket.
Jesse White – Elite 24 15U/Barlow HS
The emerging point guard 21 points and 5 assists to help Elite 24 to a 4-2 record on the weekend.
Bellevue – NW Premier Summer Championship
Jaden Nielsen-Skinner – Team Hoop Salem 17U/South Salem HS
The talented 2019 floor general who is playing up for aau had a great weekend of leading his team, knocking down open shots, and continuing to get the ball to a group of talented teammates. Has recently started hearing from Montana out of the Big Sky Conference among others.
Kyle Greeley – Team Hoop Salem 17U/West Salem HS
The combo guard had another quality tournament and has picked up heavy interest from schools such as Idaho, Southern Utah, and Portland State. Except several offers before the end of the month for Greeley.
Laquandre Taylor – Portland Basketball Club 15U/Jefferson HS
Taylor led a short handed team this weekend with his play making in transition and all around floor game. Also displayed an improved perimeter shot to match his ability to finish at the rim.
Ethan McEachern – Portland Basketball Club 15U/Lakeridge HS
Showed off his perimeter shooting and floor leadership throughout the weekend. Did a nice job of getting PBC into their offense and getting teammates involved.
