Recruiting Report: Jordan Curtis (2019)
2019 guard Jordan Curtis is transferring to Booker for his junior season. Originally a 2018 prospect, Curtis reclassified earlier this year.
The former Braden River guard made the move to Booker due to his strong and lengthy relationship with head coach Markus Black. Curtis has known him since the age of 5.
I first saw Curtis a few weeks ago at a Team Speights practice in Clearwater. Not only was the 6’2″, 181-pounder in full control at the point, he impressed with his ability to connect from outside at a high clip.
He has run with Team Speights for four years now and called program director Aaron Holmes “my man.” Holmes is close with all of his guys and it is quite evident that Curtis is someone that deserves more attention.
No offers have come yet for the rising senior, but he’s drawn interest from Northern Arizona, Mercer and Appalachian State.
Basketball started for Curtis at age 4. He pointed to his attacking, mid-range jumper, court vision, ball handling and 3-point shot are his biggest strengths.
“I’d say that I’ve improved mostly on my 3-point shooting and being more vocal and leading my team,” he said. “I just love the game and the energy that goes along with playing. I’m competitive and hate to lose, been like that since I was a kid.
“I just want to continue to work on my 3-point shooting and being more vocal. There is not a day I don’t go to the gym to put in work, everyone knows I’m a gym rat. I’ll spend hours in a gym because I know that there is some kid out there in the gym trying to be better than me.”
Curtis is going to ball out at Booker this year. The Tornadoes are loaded with athletes. Look for them to make a deep run in the playoffs. Curtis will get plenty of work as the point guard and someone Booker can rely on to score in bunches.
