Prospect Spotlight: Qadiir Wajd (2019)
Hillsborough is going to be a young team this year. One of the key pieces there is 2019 forward Qadiir Wajd.
Transferring over from King, the 6’7″, 187-pounder called his sophomore season a blast. He’s been around graduated 2017 guards Bryce Moragne and Dexter Stallworth ever since they started at Hillsborough.
“Last year I learned that there’s no way you can become better without working on your craft on a varsity basketball team. I grew last year as a vocal leader and a scorer,” Wajd told Prep Hoops Florida. “This upcoming season I hope to be a dominant scorer, rebounder and blocker in Hillsborough County.”
He says he is focused on expanding his range on the court and becoming a consistent mid-range and 3-point shooter. Wajid has run with Skills Center Elite for the last year four years and will continue to do so this summer.
Before basketball started for Wajd at age 8, he was running track. He calls his ability to drive to the basket his biggest strength while he’s aiming to improve full court ball handling.
Both lengthy and aggressive, Wajd is going to be a key factor for a new look Terriers group. They are getting a very tough-minded player. No offers or interest have come yet for Wajd, but in time they will as he makes his debut at Hillsborough.
