Prospect Spotlight: Lorenzo Burdon (2019)
Lorenzo Burdon is a defensive coach’s dream, especially around the rim.
At the Raptors Elite ID4 Invitational, Lorenzo was seen challenging every jumper in front of him, as well as contesting layups at the rim. The rising junior out of Central Florida Christian Academy is awesome at blocking shots at the rim without fouling—a seemingly lost art.
Lo’s a lefty, which automatically makes him a bit tougher of a person to guard. But he’s been working on the right hand more and more to pose it as more as a threat. His next step is becoming more of an aggressive defender in the post.
“I just want to help my team play team ball and show others how to play the game,” Burdon said.
On the offensive side of the coin, Burdon can fill it up from deep. He’s great at hitting the three on the winged area, as well as getting a clean look coming off the pick-and-roll. Burton has faith that his work ethic can lead him and the squad to a Lakeland Final Four berth in March. The biggest factor which will go into that is how well the team can create a lasting sense of chemistry.
Should he and his team gel the way he envisions, the squad should see some great strides made this upcoming season. Burdon has the tools to be a solid asset to his squad. Now it’s time to get ready for everyone to buy into the end dream.
