Prospect Spotlight: Judah Collins (2019)
Judah Collins, a rising junior at West Orange High School, has a “full steam ahead” type of mentality on the court.
At the Raptors Elite ID4 Invitational, Collins was seen as an exceptional ball-handler—someone who can run the offense at a high level. He can also penetrate the paint with a quick first step, and make it impossible for defenders to guard him one-on-one.
Collins credits his handle to a constant focus on development in and out of the practice setting. While practices and scrimmages are an opportunity to try out new things, Collins said the local YMCA is where he does most of work.
Just like his other two teammates Nigel Brown and Darrell Harding, Collins got a sense that his team wasn’t all on the same page, last season. He’s already aiming to reverse that for this coming fall. Collins has been talking with various teammates more consistently, working to get players to gel more. They’ve even upped the amount of times the team hangs out together. The efforts are being made.
Collins doesn’t have any schools looking at him, yet. Although, he’s aware that these things take time. There’s no reason to panic or feel like he’s running out of time. He just wants to remain as focused as possible.
“There’s always someone out there playing harder and getting more looks than me,” Collins said. “I just have to keep working on my game.”
