Prospect Spotlight: Jalen Collins-Swift (2018)
No mercy. No stagnant play. This is the mantra rising Legacy Charter senior Jalen Collins-Swift lives by.
At the Raptors Elite ID4 Invitational, JCS showed his toughness in the way he pursued the ball off the rebounding glass. He stayed aggressive and never allowed himself to be outworked by whomever was guarding him. He can also get to the rack with ease and finish in traffic when the team needs a bucket. Jalen was one of the quickest guards present at the event.
When it comes to defense, he’s not shy at all. Jalen wants to be the premier defender for his teammates.
“Who ever is the best player on the court, I’m going to lock them up,” Jalen said.
This is how Jalen wants to lead. By being the example. In his last year, he said he’s aiming to bring more energy than ever before with the belief it’ll lead to wins. Winning comes through working on weaknesses, and that’s exactly what he’s been doing this offseason.
He voiced how his jump-shooting has been inconsistent, as of late. He’s been putting in extra gym time to make sure improvements come by October. This is Jalen’s last opportunity to work towards a trip to Lakeland. According to him, it’s going to take one word:
“Discipline, discipline, discipline,” Jalen repeated. “Whatever coach tells us, we have to do it to the tee—if we want to win a championship.”
