Hawthorne Shootout #HHCSO: Standouts Pt. 2/4
Anthony Richardson: Eastside High School
This rising sophomore is one of the most explosive young Rams on the roster. At 6’2”-6’3”, he has boundless energy when on the floor. Richardson’s presence in the post is noticeable. He can hit the midrange jump hook on you, if you let him. On defense, he’s not allowing anything to be easy. If Rich gets screened, he doesn’t get lazy and do the “reach-around, try-and-swipe-from-behind-to-get-a-steal” trick. He will fight under or over the top of them. Another player great at disrupting the passing lanes with his hands.
Jeremiah James: Williston High School
Another class of 2020 member, James is one of the best guards in the area when it comes to ball-control. I mean, he can really put the ball on a string in-transition to set his teammates up for greatness. In the half-court his vision gets even better, throwing the ball in ways that they can just catch and shoot. If James elects to drive the ball, he’s always looking to see who’s open, always aiming to read the defense.
Malik Richardson: Eastside High School
Big Body Richardson will make it hard for post players to live, come fall. If he’s at the top of the key, don’t think he won’t put it on the floor and drive past you. He has a solid first step that can get him to the rack in two or three dribbles. Malik can finish with his off-hand, as well. On defenses, he knows how to box-out effectively, as well as go up strong for the rebound with two hands. Definitely a battler in the paint.
