Recruiting Report: Manel Ayol (2018)
2018 forward Manel Ayol had a strong season for Top Flight Academy in Canada.
He says he learned a lot as the program won the national championship. He heads down to Florida to play for head coach Anthony Taylor and Taylor Made Academy.
“My role next year with Taylor Made will be to lead the team and just perform as I’m expected to be a big part of the program and bring about wins,” Ayol told Prep Hoops Florida.
Currently, he holds two offers from Stetson and Robert Morris. The 6’7″, 180-pounder also has interest from Stephen F. Austin, Purdue, FAU, Denver, Albany and Rider.
The 6’7″, 180-pounder says the part of his game that grew the most this past season was his consistency. As to why he’s playing his final prep season in Florida, this is what Ayol had to say about that.
“The competition in Florida is much tougher and that’s what I need right now to push myself further,” he said.
He’s spending this summer looking to improve his entire game especially shooting and attacking.
“Being 6’7″ and able to handle the ball, score at will and a good passer, I have a much higher ceiling to get to this summer,” he said.
Ayol didn’t start playing basketball until the age of 14, but he has come on quickly.
He calls his biggest strengths, his two-way play, his defensive ability, attack and handle. He wants to improve his shot off the dribble and playmaking ability this season.
Florida continues to get the athletes to come down and play basketball. Ayol is a lengthy kid who has a very developed game. He will shine for Taylor Made during their prep season slate.
