Recruiting Report: Lahat Thiuone (2018)
A season ago Florida Prep had three players 6’8″ or taller in Mbacke Diong, Ndiaga Diop and Lahat Thioune. Now only one remains in 2018 forward Thiuone as the other two graduated.
The 6’11”, 205-pounder gave offenses a fit in his first season in the states coming over from Senegal. The Falcons went 25-6 and lost on a buzzer-beating three in the Class 2A state title against Miami Christian.
“It was a great season for us. I learned a lot in my first season in the USA,” Thiuone told Prep Hoops Florida. “I can run the floor, rebound, shoot and the coaches help me a lot with all that.”
This summer Thiuone is running with 1Family. He injured his ankle to open the summer season, but he’s back to full health now. He says he likes playing there and called the coaching staff really good.
Starting his basketball life at age 12, he’s aiming to gain more muscle and prepare himself for the next level.
Fun fact: Thiuone’s favorite music to warmup to is Senegalese religious music.
Currently, he holds 10 offers from Louisville, Pittsburgh, UAB, UNLV, FGCU, UCF, USF, Georgia Tech, St. John’s and UConn.
Also, Clemson and Wichita State are showing strong interest in his services.
Thiuone was a factor off the bench a year ago for Florida Prep. Moving into a starting role, he’ll be leaned on heavily by point guard Dejuon Small in offensive sets. Defensively, we know what Thiuone can bring to the table. Look for his stock to rise this fall.
