Recruiting Report: Bryan Williams (2018)
Wellington made a deep run in the playoffs a season ago. With 2018 guard Bryan Williams providing sound minutes, it gave the Wolves a clear edge.
Williams had 12 points in the Class 9A region final win over Coral Springs and 10 points in the 52-50 state semifinal loss to eventual champion Osceola.
The 6’0″, 150-pound guard averaged 8.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists behind Illinois commit Trent Frazier and 2017 graduate Sage Chen-Young.
Williams called his junior campaign a great experience.
“I thought the chemistry we had as a team was great,” he told Prep Hoops Florida. “The overall outcome wasn’t what we wanted but we will grow from that experience. I learned a lot last year like how to change my mentality of the game as how to control my emotions and body language.”
The part of my game that grew the most was my scoring and passing. I believe my role for next year is being a leader and the main scorer for my team.”
This summer, he’s running with the Wellington Wolves AAU team, a program he’s been with since 5th grade. His focus this summer is to develop his game further and make sure his grades are up to satisfactory for colleges.
Williams started his basketball life in the 4th grade. He pointed to his shooting and passing as his biggest strengths. He’s aiming to improve his finish at the basket and ballhandling.
No offers have come yet for Williams, but he’s drawn interest from Palm Beach Atlantic, Thiel, Lynn and West Florida. At his frame, he’s an ideal Divsion II player who could draw some low Division I looks here soon. With Frazier off to college, Williams is taking over the Wellington backcourt. Expect to see good things.
