Prospect Spotlight: Tyler Ebanks (2020)
2020 forward Tyler Ebanks made his varsity debut as a freshman for Lake Wales Vanguard this past season.
The 6’4″, 195-pounder averaged 7.0 points per game off the bench, serving as the sixth man.
Ebanks had his best performance of the season in the Class 2A-District 5 semifinal win over Victory Christian. He hit 7-of-7 shots from the field for 14 points as the Panthers advanced. He says he learned that mental toughness and focus are key to success at the varsity level.
“The part of my game which improved most was my jump shot and ability to create space for a jumper,” Ebanks told Prep Hoops Florida. “Next season at Vanguard my role will be at the 3 or 4. I’ll be expected to hit jumpers at a high rate and attack the basket.”
This is first year playing for the D.C. Blue Devils. He says he feels that everything is going well and that he’s looking to become an all-around threat this summer.
“I’m focused on getting looks and improving my all-around game,” he said. “More specifically, I’d like to continuously improve my mid-range, pull up jumper and footwork. In addition, I’m working to improve my handles and quickness with the ball.”
Ebanks started his basketball career at age 8. He has no offers or interest yet, but right now his focus is there. Ebanks will earn those looks in time, especially if he can take advantage of a starting role at Vanguard this season.
