Prospect Spotlight: Marcus Moon (2020)
Marcus Moon was one of two freshmen on the Palm Glades varsity roster this past season.
The Eagles appeared in the Class 4A region semifinal before losing to state semifinalist Archbishop Carroll. The 5’7″, 150-pound Moon played sparingly, averaging 2.4 points per game off the bench.
This summer he’s focused on getting better day by day with different training and workouts.
“I’ve learned most how to be patient,” Moon told Prep Hoops Florida. “When I was younger coaches use to tell me the only problem was I went too fast and rushed instead of being patient. Next season I plan on taking both JV and varsity to the playoffs and winning the championship.”
The 2020 guard is currently building trust and chemistry with his new teammates on JV and varsity. Moon says the results are great, it is as if the senior class never left.
“We all learned about each other strengths and weaknesses,” he said. “If we do 1-on-1 drills and I’m going against someone who loves to use their right hand then we would challenge each other so that he won’t be just able to do right hand lay ups. It is little things like that to just to build up trust because when the season starts we will need a lot.”
Starting his basketball life at age 5, he didn’t know if this is what he wanted to pursue until 6th grade.
After trying out for his team at Gateway Environmental, he didn’t make it. After that, he went to Palm Glades and was named the team captain in 7th grade at the prep school.
Moon calls his attack to the rim, mid-range jumper and ability to create as a left his three biggest strengths.
He’s looking to gain more confidence in using his right hand.
No offers or interest yet for the rising sophomore. He knows he’s undersized, but with a bright basketball mind Moon is headed in the right direction. Look for Palm Glades to be a contender once again with Moon playing a key role.
