Prospect Spotlight: Kofi Asare (2018)
Every move that Asare makes has a purpose attached to it.
He’s one of the rare players who appear to give the game at-hand every bit of his energy. Asare remembers where his Eastside Rams were this time, last June.
He refuses to go down that path, again.
“We started off well over the summer last year, but as it went on, we started to decline,” Asare said. “We just want to keep our focus consistent as the year goes on.”
His defense gets his offense, started. After luring ball-handlers into making the “wrong” pass, Asare is able to steal, quickly push the break and finish the lay-in after charging the gaps in the paint. He’s solid at finishing quickly off-the-catch, in-transition.
He is great at playing hard-nosed defense, loves to get deep inside of ball-handlers’ bubble to get them rattled. In a recent Gainesville summer league game, Asare forced a few loose balls and tie-ups on account of his pesky defending.
The move for the rest of the summer involves a focus on developing his outside jumper, polishing his ball-handling skills and free-throws. Look for Asare to be a light for the Rams come fall.
