Prospect Spotlight: Fredrick Francois (2018)
Over at Booker, Fredrick Francois is headed into his senior season.
At 6’1″, 170 lbs., the 2018 guard helped the Tornadoes reach the Class 6A region semifinals.
“This past season as a junior was a good experience for me as we had a team full of seniors so that helped me become tough mentally and physically,” Francois told Prep Hoops Florida. “We had a good run this year but we came short to Sebring a team that became a rival to us within the past year.”
He says his ability to shoot the long ball has improved. His role for next year is one of a leader and to help the team win games.
“It’s not going to be an easy road but I strongly believe in my team and the work we put in,” Francois said.
Francois is running with Impact Elite for the first time this summer. After years of playing against them, he’s happy to be a part of the program.
“My focus for the summer is staying in the weight room and staying in the gym trying to improve every single day to be a better player than I was yesterday,” he said. “As of now, it’s coming along well I’ve been working on every part of my game to be the complete player that I can be.”
He started his basketball life at age 6 playing with his older brothers, who he said taught him how to play the game.
“It was pretty tough growing up because since I had older brothers I had to play with the older boys and they didn’t take it easy on me,” Francois said. “They would always tell me I have to find a way to overcome that and just play. From then I’ve just been playing basketball ever since. I first started playing organized basketball my 7th grade year at Brookside Middle and from there that’s where I felt like this game and this basketball could take me places and I’ll stop my parents from working. That’s just been my drive.”
Francois called his ability to get to the rim, finish and pull up from three as his biggest strengths. he says he wants to improve on being a better facilitator this season.
During the season Francois had a rebound, went coast to coast, split two defenders on other end, dunked on the opposing team and the gym went wild.
Smart, athletic and savvy, Francois is going into a big senior season. Booker is a team built for the postseason. With Francois part of the starting five, it gives them a solid chance of going deep.
