Prospect Spotlight: Demari Turner (2018)
This is the moment Turner has been waiting for. A chance lead his team as a senior to heights it’s never reached.
The six-foot point guard has been talking with fellow St. Francis seniors about making this last go-round end with a state championship. To do that, Turner says the senior board has to play harder than ever before, as well as build the ultimate form of team chemistry.
Turner is a speedy guy who knows how to weave in and out of traffic for tough layins and finishes around the rim. He’s also really solid at reading the defense in-transition, and making the RIGHT play.
“I’m looking for an open lane, and I’m looking to kick the ball to the shooters,” Turner said of his game-style.
After seeing him perform in a Gainesville summer league game, his stronger areas of his game include driving to the cup and hitting the midrange jumper. His pull-up game is solid from beneath the perimeter, can really put his touch on shots from 12-16 feet out.
The summer is dedicated to ball-handling and finishing over the bigs. Running the point guard spot, he understands how the ball has to be seen as valuable. With some growth in that area, Turner’s stock should rise in his final season.
