Prospect Spotlight: Camden Orth (2019)
Buchholz rising junior Camden Orth is a dynamic dual-sport athlete who’s getting it done in the classroom.
While playing quarterback for the Bobcats and boasting a GPA over a 3.5, Orth has now figured out how to be an asset for his “Swamp Shooters” squad, this summer. He’s been playing a lot of point guard and has proven to be comfortable being a vocal floor leader in a few games I’ve been able to catch.
He’s smart with his shot-taking. Although, he is capable of stepping out from 15-18 feet and knocking one down. Whether it be from the corners, the wing-area or dead center, his midrange jumpshot is spot-on.
Orth isn’t a guy who wants the limelight or attention on him. Buchholz head coach Bob Horodyski said he’s one of the more selfless players on his roster. He’s always asking about different ways he play that could benefit the team in the long run.
Being a football player, you can see that he has an extra layer of toughness about him. Mild-mannered kid, but he isn’t afraid to do the dirty work for you on the defensive end. He takes pride in doing what’s necessary to scrap for a win.
Coach Horodyski believes he can be a solid piece for the ‘Cats by the time October hits. The biggest thing is continuing to work on the intangibles. With this in mind, 2017 could be a breakout year for Orth.
