Nick Jiles talks summer ball and senior season ahead
At 5’11”, 150 lbs., Nick Jiles is a fierce competitor.
The 2018 Lake Gibson guard is someone who stood out last September at our Florida Top 250 Expo. He carried that confidence into the regular season helping the Braves go 17-9 and make an appearance in the Class 7A-District 6 semifinal.
Lake Gibson fell 75-71 in an overtime matchup to Auburndale. Either way, Jiles called his season a great one.
“This past year I learned how to lead a team better and get other players involved while also scoring the ball. The part of my game that grown the most was my defense,” Jiles told Prep Hoops Florida. “My role for the upcoming season is to just be a leader and hopefully lead the team to a district championship which we haven’t gotten in ages.”
Jiles is currently spending his first year with Florida Elite this summer. His main focus is to better his game and become a complete player while gaining the attention of colleges. His team won the title at the Bob Gibbons Tournament in Atlanta a few weeks ago
He started his basketball life at age 10. Jiles calls his energy on both sides of the ball his biggest strength. He’s aiming to improve his off the dribble shooting this summer and beyond.
Currently, no offers or interest have come for Jiles. It’s a shame. The kid is getting overlooked simply because he’s being viewed as another undersized point guard. We’ve heard this story before.
When you turn on the film or watch Jiles in person, you see a player with poise. He will use that to have a big senior season. Division II/NAIA is a nice fit for him.
