DME Sports Basketball Camp: Standouts Part 1/3
The second-annual DME Basketball Camp featured about 80 student-athletes looking to hone their skills with the help of Daytona Beach’s best coaches and trainers in the area. After spending two days with the group of 80-plus, here’s part one of three of the top standouts from the camp.
Tyrell Jones
This rising junior was one of the quickest players to step on the court. Jones has a great ability to fight through traffic and get to the rack. He’s demonstrated that numerous times as a member of the Showtime Ballers club squad. He’ll be moving on from Tallahassee-Leon to play with West Oaks Academy this upcoming season. Look for Jones to be a slasher who’ll get buckets at the rim for his new team.
A.J. Neal
This rising freshman is ahead of the game, already sporting an offer from Florida International University—and I understand why. Neal had one of the best handles present at the camp. Definitely has a strong command of the ball when it’s in his hand. Like his Showtime Ballers partner Jones, Neal knows how to attack the rim without fear. He’s also aggressive on the defensive end, swiping for steals at the earliest opportunity.
Ricardo Wright
Wright is a rising sophomore for Eustis High School who can grow to be a solid scorer for the Panthers. He averaged nearly 13 points a game as a freshman, last season. Though he can put the ball in the cup, he showed a great knack for finding the open man in-transition at the camp. He’s a speedy guard, as well. Definitely a player to look forward to in the coming years.
Marcus Niblack
Niblack is a guy who brought his energy with every drill throughout the camp. As a freshman at Wildwood High last season, he averaged 13.6 points a game and just over two steals a night. The biggest areas of his game involved ball-handling and his pull-up jumper from midrange. Niblack had one of the softest touches close to the rim than anyone around him. Should be an awesome player to see develop over the next three years.
