Recruiting Report: Madiaw Niang (2018)
2018 center Madiaw Niang knows a thing or two about size.
The rising senior stands at 6’9″, 200 lbs. and is making the move to Calusa Prep after playing at CBA Academy in Las Palmas, Spain.
Starting his basketball life at age 12 in Senegal, Africa, Niang has quickly entrenched himself in the game. He said he was focused on attacking the basket and improving his transition and defensive skills this past season.
He’s aiming to be a great leader and show his best like he says he always does.
Niang will play this summer for Team Knight.
“I came late to the U.S. so I couldn’t play in April. I like the stuff that the team runs,” he told Prep Hoops Florida. “They have great players and i like to compete for my spot try to be a leader.”
He pointed to his biggest strengths as his ability to rebounds on both ends, handles and his finish in transition. Niang wants to improve his explosiveness all around.
Currently, Wyoming represents his lone offer. The program offered him on April 22.
Niang says he wants to have the opportunity to play in front of college coaches. He says he can handle the ball all over the court, hit 3’s and play all five positions on the floor.
His favorite player in Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Niang is going to be a difference maker at independent Calusa Prep. Playing for Team Knight will boost his stock this summer and as long as he continues to get stronger and attack the basket, then he’ll be setting himself up for success. Colleges love big guys who aggressive and can shoot. Niang fits the bill for a Division-I prospect.
