Recruiting Report: Devin Gross (2018)
2018 guard Devin Gross is a reliable 3-point shooter.
The rising senior opened last season with three straight games with four triples for Calvary Christian. Gross played a key role, averaging 6.5 points per game as the Warriors went 19-8 and finished the season in the Class 4A-District 4 semifinal.
At 6’3″, 185 lbs., Gross has no offers yet, but he’s earned interest from Eckerd College.
He called his junior season a good one as he earned minutes off the bench behind five seniors.
This is what Gross learned from 2016 and plans to do as a senior.
“The biggest difference in my game is definitely my defense. My coach stressed our man defense very much because that’s what he says our team takes the most pride in,” Gross told Prep Hoops Florida. “Next year I’m gonna have to be more of a versatile player; rebounding, scoring, ball handling and defense.”
Gross has played with the Warehouse Ballers since the 6th grade. He’s back with them for this summer.
“I’m mostly focused on making this last season of AAU as good as it can be,” he said. I’m trying to get better with every game and every practice. I also want to play some good competition and get some good exposure.”
Starting his basketball life at age 11, he pointed to his spot up shooting and rebounding as his biggest strengths. He’s aiming to become a better rebounder.
In a starting role for Calvary Christian this upcoming fall and an already improved game this summer with, Gross should draw more looks. He’s a crafty outside shooter and his game is expanding. In terms of hard work, he’s always playing with determination.
