Prospect Spotlight: Logan Morrissey (2019)
2019 guard Logan Morrissey is a crafty player.
The rising Plant junior can hit from outside at a high clip and has the athleticism to get to the basket for driving layups or dunks.
At 6’3″, 170 lbs., Morrissey is looking to help turn around the Panthers, after a 13-37 record over the past two seasons. He hit 10 triples in a game against Sickles this past season and showed his upside.
“I’m looking forward to the season and anticipate our team at Plant improving our record,” Morrissey told Prep Hoops Florida. “Our team doesn’t have much size to match up with other teams in the district, so rebounding will be a must.”
In terms of what grew in his game last season, he had this to say.
“The speed of the game and the emphasis on defense was much more than I experienced as a freshman,” he said. “Moving into next season, I need to take more of a leadership role, work on my defense and most importantly my rebounding.”
This is Morrissey’s third summer playing for the Tampa Bayhawks and head coach Byron Lane-Batchelor. He says he’s focused on getting better every day and contributing to the team’s success anyway possible.
Starting his basketball life at the age 5, Morrissey points to his shooting ability as his biggest strength. He’s aiming to improve his overall defense and ball handling.
No offers or interest have come yet for Morrissey, but with a new look Plant team and his hard work with the Bayhawks, it should change. He uses his classroom smarts on the court to help him become a better player. Look for him to be more than just a 3-point shooter as a junior.
