Prospect Spotlight: Khalil Waleed (2019)
Khalil Waleed is set to take over control of the Seffner Christian backcourt this upcoming season.
The 2019 guard will pair with rising senior Darius Hopkins as the Crusaders graduate nine seniors from a team that went 24-7 and appeared in the Class 4A state semifinals this past season.
Waleed says he learned how to be mature on the court being surrounded by so many seniors. They showed him the hard work that it takes to win games.
“During the season at Seffner, I learned that you can always improve on your game every day, whether it’s on the basketball court, in the weight room or even in the classroom,” Waleed told Prep Hoops Florida.
Waleed is spending his third summer with the Tampa Bayhawks, a program he called great and one that is like a family.
The 5’10”, 150-pounder says he just wants to keep improving his game and get better every day over the summer.
Starting his basketball life at age 7, Waleed pointed to his biggest strengths as his decision making and ability to be a playmaker. He wants to continue to master his 3-point shot.
No offers or interest have come yet for Waleed, but you can see what he’s learned the past few seasons at Seffner Christian is coming into play. He soaked it all in as a rotational player and is now putting that into play in the summer session. I expect a big season from Waleed for the new-look Crusaders.
