Prospect Spotlight: Anthony Wright (2018)
The Eastside Rams junior and AAU Upward Stars shooting guard has plans to elevate his game this summer.
Looking at Wright’s last half of the high school season, plus his showing at the Each One Teach One Invitational in Tampa, his best moments come from operating off the right wing, driving past defenders to finish lay-ins. He also shoots well from the top of the key for the three-ball.
Though he’s a guard, he’s figured out a way to play through contact in the painted are, muscling his way to buckets when called upon.
Admittingly, Wright spoke on his efforts to improve his timing when passing the rock. Becoming a better leader and contesting the shot on defense are high on the list when asked what traits he knows he needs to work towards. The versatility of Kyrie Irving is something Wright admires, and attempts to model.
There aren’t any offers or inquiries that have come his way, but Wright has a goal to really utilize this summer, and walk away on-track to the next level. Wright owns a coachable mindset, a team-first mentality and the potential to be another positive example from the Gainesville area.
