Kentucky 2017 College Commitment List (NCAA Division I)
The 2016-2017 Kentucky high school basketball season has come to a close, but that doesn’t mean headlines still aren’t being made. Prep Hoops Kentucky updates you on Kentucky’s 2017 class commitments.
Kentucky 2017 College Commitments (NCAA Division I)
Taveion Hollingsworth (Paul Lawrence Dunbar) – WESTERN KENTUCKY UNIVERSITY
Last year, Hollingsworth helped Dunbar accomplish Kentucky’s ultimate team award, a Kentucky state championship. This season Hollingsworth racked up a number of individual awards and accomplishments, including winning Kentucky’s Mr. Basketball. Hollingsworth also became the City of Lexington’s all-time leading scorer.
Jaylen Sebree (Christian County) – COASTAL CAROLINA UNIVERSITY
Committing to CCU just before the season started, Sebree led the Colonels to a 27-8 overall record while averaging 16.9 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Sebree scored over 875 points in two seasons at Christian County.
Pedro Bradshaw (Russellville) – BELMONT UNIVERSITY
Bradshaw also committed early in the season, choosing the Nasvhille, TN university as his college destination. Belmont is one of the top mid-major schools in the country, and Bradshaw is sure to make an impact. This season Bradshaw averaged 22.5 points per game and 13.3 rebounds.
Tony Jackson (North Hardin) – COASTAL CAROLINA UNIVERSITY
Another Coastal Carolina commit coming from the Bluegrass State, Jackson had a stellar senior season for the Trojans of North Hardin. Jackson averaged 20.3 points and 6 rebounds per game.
Chris Vogt (Graves County) – NORTHERN KENTUCKY UNIVERSITY
Vogt had over 15 different scholarship before deciding to joining the Norse of Northern Kentucky. One of Kentucky’s all-time leading shot blockers, Vogt helped guide Graves County to the Kentucky state tournament while averaging 16.8 points and 9.2 points per game. The 6’11 big man will add size to an already talented NKU squad that made the NCAA tournament this season.
Tray Hollowell (University Heights Academy) – WOFFORD COLLEGE
Hollowell committed to Wofford just this past week, taking his name off the board of top prospects not yet committed to a school. Hollowell averaged 21.5 points and 5.8 assists for the Blazers this season. He also shot just under 50% from the field.
Peyton Broughton (North Laurel) – EASTERN KENTUCKY UNIVERSITY
Averaging just over 30 points per game, Broughton will give the Colonels of Eastern Kentucky University an athletic wing threat who can score from different levels on the court. Broughton also averaged 8.3 rebounds per game. His highest point total of the season came against Chapman High School out of South Carolina. In that game, Broughton scorched the nets for 67 points.
Terry Taylor (Bowling Green) – AUSTIN PEAY STATE UNIVERSITY
Leading Bowling Green to a 36-2 record and to a Kentucky state championship, Taylor averaged 17.4 points and 12.1 rebounds per game. During the state tournament, Taylor recorded a total of 82 points and 40 rebounds in four games. Look for Taylor to make an immediate impact at Austin Peay.
Jaylon Hall (Louisville Doss) – WRIGHT STATE UNIVERSITY
Hall led Doss the the Kentucky state tournament final game last season. This season, Doss finished 22-11 while Hall averaged 18.5 points per game. Hall is sure to see time at both guard positions while playing at Wright State.
Anthony Mathis (Kentucky Country Day) – UNITED STATES NAVAL ACADEMY
Mathis averaged 24.4 points and 4.6 rebounds for Kentucky Country Day. Mathis has goals of earning Patriot League Freshman of the Year and doing whatever he can to help the Midshipmen win.
Luke Johnson (Lexington Catholic) – LOYOLA (MARYLAND)
Johnson helped lead Lexington Catholic to the 11th Region championship game before falling to Scott County. Lexington Catholic was the only Kentucky team to defeat Scott County during the regular season. Johnson led the Knights in scoring, averaging 20.9 points per game.
Jake Ohmer (Scott High School) – WESTERN KENTUCKY UNIVERSITY
Originally committed to the University of the Cumberlands (NAIA), Ohmer’s spectacular state tournament performances earned him a scholarship offer from head coach Rick Stansbury and the Hilltoppers. Ohmer averaged 27.8 point and 8.4 rebounds per game on the season.
