Kentucky 2017 College Commitments (NCAA Division II)
Cole VonHandorf (Covington Catholic) – FAIRMONT STATE UNIVERSITY
VonHandorf finished his career as one of Covington Catholic’s all-time winningest players. This past season he was awarded all-state honors for the fourth consecutive seson. Fairmont State, who participated in this year’s D-II final four, just hired former West Virginia Mountaineer standout Joe Mazzulla as their head coach. The Falcons are getting a player in VonHandorf who averaged 17.6 points per game to finish his senior season.
Sean McNeil (Cooper) – BELLARMINE UNIVERSITY
McNeil helped lead Cooper to it’s first ever Kentucky state tournament appearance this season, advancing all the way to the championship game. Averaging 17 points per game on the season, McNeil dropped 20 points in the state championship game against Bowling Green. He also added 6 rebounds. McNeil is a combo guard and will look to bring his winning experience to the Knights, who competed in this year’s NCAA D-II national semifinal game.
J.C. Hawkins (Simon Kenton) – UNION UNIVERSITY
Hawkins committed to Union University just before the Kentucky high school basketball season kicked-off. Averaging 13.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per game, Hawkins is capable of playing the 1-3 positions. Simon Kenton finished the season 15-14. Union University is located in Jackson, Tennessee and competes in the Gulf South Conference.
