2018: Fast Risers (Part 2)
The summer is crucial for all of the talent across the United States. In Florida, there are a ton of players looking to not only improve their overall games but also draw more attention from the top college programs.
Here is a look at five more fast risers in the class of 2018. Read Part 1 here (LINK).
Tyrese Williams (Tampa Bay Tech)
Williams has grown leaps in bounds over the last year. He helped Tampa Bay Tech have a very solid season and at 6’6″, he’s finally growing into his body. He is a very good attacker and dunker. He’ll be playing for Showtime Hoops this summer. Williams has drawn interest from Louisville and Murray State over the last month.
C.J. Williams (Countryside)
Williams had some huge games a season ago including a 30-point performance where he shot 10-of-16 from the field against East Lake. The 6’2″ guard also scored 25 against Palm Harbor and 24 against Largo. When Williams wants to turn it on, he can. Playing at Countryside where they really pride themselves on getting everyone involves helps. Williams will be playing for SEBA once again this summer. He’s flying under the radar, but shouldn’t anymore.
Will Erickson (Providence)
Georgia Southern, FGCU and North Florida all extended offers to Erickson this past year. The 6’5″ forward has tons of experience playing for a successful Providence program. Look for him to boost his stock even further this summer with the Jacksonville Tigers. Erickson is a very good attacker and hits more often than not from outside.
Nick Jiles (Lake Gibson)
Jiles is a perfect Division-II prospect. Even at 5’11”, he may seem undersized, but he can really make plays as a distributor and outside shooter. Out of Polk County, Jiles is one of those players that is hard not to like. He makes things happen on his own and his court vision is top notch. He’ll continue to stand out as he adds strength to his frame playing for Florida Elite this summer.
Denari Garrett (Sickles)
Garrett is similar to Williams in the fact that he grew over the past year and is freakishly athletic. Garrett is now 6’6″ and after playing a rotational role early in the season for Sickles, he flourished down the stretch in key minutes for the Class 8A champion Gryphons. Garrett puts a lot of pressure on himself. He is lengthy and can attack the rim with high-flying dunks or fancy layups. He’s in for a big summer with Skills Center Elite.
