VOTE: Prep Hoops Kentucky Player of the Year
With the Kentucky high school regular-season having concluded and many teams still playing in the postseason, we at PrepHoopsKentucky.com are curious to know who YOU feel should be the Prep Hoops Kentucky Player of the Year. Although there are many, many talented athletes throughout the Bluegrass State, here are the five players up for POTY:
- Terry Taylor – Bowling Green High School
Taylor, a Kentucky Mr. Basketball finalist, has had quite the season in the 4th Region for Bowling Green. As the Purples are 30-2 and play in the Region semifinals on Monday night against Franklin-Simpson, Taylor is averaging 17.4 points and 11.8 rebounds per game. Taylor is signed to play at Austin Peay.
- Pedro Bradshaw – Russellville High School
DeAndre, known to everyone as “Pedro,” is a Kentucky Mr. Basketball finalist and has put on a show in 2016-17. On the season, Bradshaw, a Belmont signee, is averaging 22.5 points and 13.3 rebounds per contest for Russellville. He and the Panthers play in the 4th Region Tournament semifinals on Monday night against Clinton County.
- Taveion Hollingsworth – Paul Laurence Dunbar High School
Although his high school career came to an end in a 68-64 loss to Lexington Christian in the 43rd District Tournament, Hollingsworth has been the clear favorite to win Kentucky Mr. Basketball this year. On the season, the Western Kentucky signee averaged 28.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per outing.
- Peyton Broughton – North Laurel High School
Despite falling to Knox Central in the quarterfinals of the 13th Region Tournament to end his high school career, Broughton has been a threat all season. The Eastern Kentucky signee, who is also a Kentucky Mr. Basketball finalist, averaged 31.0 points and 8.3 rebounds in 2016-17.
- Tavin Lovan – Franklin-Simpson High School
As known for being one of the top players in the 4th Region alongside Taylor and Bradshaw and also a finalist for Kentucky Mr. Basketball, Lovan has had a spectacular senior season. Averaging 26.3 points and 9.4 rebounds per game, Lovan has carried the Wildcats to the 4th Region Tournament
semifinals, where they’ll play favorite Bowling Green on Monday night. Lovan is still available.
